Hi, im looking for information on a James Sumpters. I don't know anything about him except that he was from Ohio. I recently found out he is my great-grandfather. My family has grown up with a different last name and found out it is actually Sumpters. My great-grandmother met James back in the early 1900's. She ended up getting pregnant and she had my grandfather. James wanted to marry my great-grandmother but she didn't go through with it. James then disappeared from her life. We are assuming he inlisted in the war. I am in the process of finding out his occupation during their relationship. Any information regarding James Sumpters would be greatly appreciated. My immediate family is very interested in knowing about this side of our family that we didn't know existed until recently...through a handwritten letter that was given to us at my grandfathers brothers funeral.
