SHIP'S MANIFEST for Joseph Bayless b., 1833 in France

Hello!

I am trying to find the ship's manifest for my great great grandfather, but without success. The information I have been able to gather on him has come from census reports and is quite vague in a lot of areas. I believe he was born in 1833 in Alsace-Lorraine, France. He immigrated sometime before 1854. He married Clara Josephine Scherer in August of 1854 in Hamilton Co., Ohio. Their first two children were born in Cincinnati, Ohio. They then moved to Evansville, Indiana where they chow up on the 1860 and 1870 census reports. Joseph has gone from being a cook to being a ship's steward and retains that position until his death. At least I believe that to be the case. I haven't actually been able to find when he died, just that it happened sometime between 1880 and 1890. On the 1880 census the family is living in St. Louis, Missouri. Any help would be greatly appreciated! THANK YOU!

Jennifer
