Hi Phyl, I now have a copy of that 1875 Douglas County census. From a 1928 book by Fred Lockley, Elizabeth was graduated on Feb 24, 1870 from the Homeopathic Medical College of Cleveland, Ohio. As you are responding from the Ohio forum, maybe you can help with this: I've been trying to find a copy of her medical diploma or license, perhaps a directory of the students from that college, a year book, or some actual documentation regarding her establishment as an MD. Please let me know should you stumble across something like that. You're very correct. She was quite remarkable. Together, she and husband Frederick Eggert are mentioned quited prominately in several books and articles I have found concerning their contributions to late 1800s-early 1900s Oregon history. They, particularly Elizabeth, also played a very important role in my mom's family. She had a great affection for my grandmother, her niece, Bessie [Avery] Hobson. Thanks again for your follow-up.
