Hi Cheryl, My great-grandfather was named Zachariah Jewell. His parents were George Washington Jewell and Julia Ann Mills. Zach was from Coshocton, Ohio. He was born April 19, 1842. He served in the civil war, married Rebecca Berkshire after the war and moved to Paris, Illinois (Edgar County). My grandfather was his son, Paul who was born in 1892 in Horace, Il there by Paris. My mother was Paul's youngest child, born in 1938. I think that my great-grandfather and your Lucille Jewell Bigelow were brother and sister. I have a picture in front of me that is of her daughter Rosa Etta (Rosie) Almont. My grandfather always talked about having family in Chillicothe, MO. Several of my aunts went there years ago and were quite amused to find such family resemblances. The family story is that George W and his wife had 16 children and lived to be almost 100 years old. I have not been able to find where they died. I have marriage certificates, death certificates and pension records for Zach that show his parents information. The fact that I have pictures of Lucy's daughter makes me think that we are working on the same line. There's another woman named Colleen who just posted on Ancestry today about the same family. Let's get together and share what we have. I love family history! My grandmother Jewell told me so many stories as a child of all of the families. I am so excited for the chance to talk with you! Looking forward to hearing from you! Stephanie Toller Notify Administrator about this message?
