Lucille was my Aunt (sister of my father). She passsed away earlier this year. I have quite a bit of family history. Her siblings (all deceased) were Louise (Abel) McGee b.9/24/1916 d.5/16/1985, and my father Augustus W. Abel Jr. b.9/27/1921 d.9/5/1978. Bernice Lucille Abel was born 9/19/1918 and passed away 5/29/2005. She and Howard had 2 daughters Carolyn Drake (2nd marriage) b.11/15/1942 (children Kirk Kennard b.7/10/1962, Kristi Kennard b.2/14/1966, and Kimberly Kennard b. 3/2/1971) and Connie Milligan (2nd marriage) b. 8/9/1949 (children Bethany D. Nichols b. 1/15/1973, Bradley C. Nichols b. 12/28/1975, and Bryan E. Nichols b.10/2/1980).
Lucille was the daughter of Augustus W. Abel Sr. b.8/1/1890 d.10/14/1967 and Kathleen Best b.8/13/1896 d.4/7/1974. They lived in Mcconnelsville, OH located in Morgan County, as did their children for all of their lives. Augustus "Gus" was the 8th of 10 children (8 boys and 2 girls).
His parents were Albert M. Abel b.10/13/1853 d.10/29/1922 and Eliza A. Sauter b.7/20/1860 d.2/24/1895. They lived in Morgan County also.
Albert's parents were Margratainah Abel b.10/3/1824 d.2/24/1880 and Henry Heisler. Henry left Margaret and teh children in 1856 ,after 4 years of marriage, and she took her maiden name back. She also then moved from Harrison County Ohio to Morgan County.
Margaret's parents were Christopher Abel b.6/16/1791 d.5/29/1859 and Sarah Beckley b.6/16/1791 d.1863. They moved from Loudon County VA to Harrison County Ohio in about 1811.
Christopher's parents were George Abel b.3/6/1754 d.2/5/1835 and Catherine Roler b? d?. George was a Hessian soldier who grew up in Datterode, Germany and came to America as a Hessian Soldier. He then defected and joined the Americans in the Revolutionary War.
