TRACY FAMILY/AFRICAN AMERICAN
Posted by: D. Whitley Date: March 17, 1998 at 12:23:34

I am researching the Tracy line of my family. I am trying to find
out who were James Tracy' parents and siblings. All I know is that
James died between 1915 and 1923. He was married to Ella Taylor (daughter
of Henry Smothers and Jane Taylor). James and Ella had the
following children: Margaret, Charles Theodore (b. 1904 d. 1975),
and James Walter Tracy (b. 1907). James and Ella's parents were
said to have come from Kentucky, then migrated to Ohio. Also, this
family was a mixture of african americans, native americans, and
european descent. I have not ascertained if this admixtured of european
descent was through slavery or mutual interracial relationships
between free african americans and native americans. If anyone has
any information that may help solve some of these mysteries, please
let me know. I would love to exchange information!
Thanks,
D. Whitley
