It would be great if they are related!! I would love some material on where Abraham or Jeremiah originated. Here's some early material. Let me know what you think, please.

*J1.       Abraham JONES b. in either NJ or, probably, VA 12 Oct. 1782, and married Rebecca Pierson on 20 Jul. 1811 ["New Jersey Genealogical Magazine". vol. XI, p. 15. and Commemorative History of the Presbyterian Church in Westfield, New Jersey 1728-1928. p. 451.] at Westfield (then Essex Co. now Union Co.), N. J. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Thomas Picton. Rebecca Pierson, was born in Westfield, Union Co., NJ (NJ per census records of 1860 for her children's 'parent's birthplace') around Christmas of 1791, daughter of Squire and Nancy (DeCamp) Pierson. Her grave stone in Green Mound Cemetery, says she d. 28 Feb 1884, age 92-3-2[From the Mercer County Probate indices: Page 196 Mar 1, 1884 Jones, Rebecah W (wid) 92-3-5 d: Gibson Tp. b: New Jersey (note the DOD differs, but could be the date entered in the Probate book or burial date)].

The different birth-states for Abraham are from different census entries of his (VA) and of his children (VA & NJ). If New Jersey is involved, even as a stopping place, then it is of interest that there are entries for 1810 and 1811 in the NJ Tax Index showing a Samuel Jones living in Westfield. Also, Abraham Jones has entries in Randolph Twp., Morris Co. for 1808, 1809, 1811, 1812, 1813, and 1814; thereafter appears an Abraham Jones in Hanover Twp., Morris Co. in 1815 and 1817 after which Abraham died or moved on - maybe to Ohio. Our Abraham died 2 Oct 1851 in Mercer Co., Ohio and is buried in Green Mound Cemetery in Gibson Township.

Note: There are two Abraham Jones men in early Butler Co. with similar birth years. The second m. a Sarah _____. This second Abraham is buried with his wife Sarah and other family members in Reily Twp. (Indian Creek Baptist Church) and is probably the one who was there in 1807. Our Abram may have been there prior to 1810 to claim and clear land before returning to New Jersey to marry and start a family.

By the first federal census of Ohio in 1820 [Reily, Butler, Ohio; Roll: M33_87; Page: 130], the DeCamp and Pierson families are living next to Abram Jones and his young family. Those two other families married into Abraham Jonesí family. In this census, there is only one Abraham Jones and, given the neighbors, he is likely to be ours. If so, some early children may have died young (or been part of an extended household) since his listing shows 2 males under ten and 3 females under ten, plus 1 male and 1 female over 26 but under 45.
