Looking for any information on Jacob A. Davidson born about 1820, possibly in VA and died in 1860's in Phelps Co. MO. He married Martha A. Smith in 1851 in Mercer Co. OH. She was born in OH in about 1830 and also died in the 1860's in Phelps Co. MO. Jacob and Martha had 4 children -
Jefferson born 6/2/1853 in IL or IN, Jerome born 8/2/1855 in IL or MO, Mary Jane born 5/8/1858 in MO and Samuel born 1861 in MO. These children were orphaned and lived with families in Dent and Texas Counties in MO. Possible families they were living with are James Sturgeon and Eckles McKinney.

I have learned that Martha is possibly the daughter
of James Smith and Sarah Grogran. The James Smith Family and Jacob Davidson who is living with a McVickers are both on the 1850 Census of Mercer Co. OH. James Smith was born 12-1-1790 in VA, Sarah Grogran Smith was born about 1794 in Henry Co. VA. James and Sarah's children were - Elizabeth M, Mary G, John A, Daniel, Sallie L, James H, William F, Nancy K, Martha Ann and Drury J. So far the Davidson family is still a "brick wall".

If any of these names look familiar or you think there might be a connection please respond.

Thanks,
