I grew up in Medina County and wasn't aware of a large German contingent. What area of the county did your Germans come from?

My grandparents were German and lived almost their entire lives in Akron. Akron is in Summit County just to the east of Medina County. Back in the early 1900s, the rubber factories in Akron were hiring like crazy. Immigrants had no problem at all getting jobs there, and they flocked to Akron.

Cleveland was also a hot spot for immigrants as jobs were plentiful there in the early part of century. (Cleveland is just north of Medina County.)
