Joseph Grover - significant name change
I am currently compiling an Every Name Index to the History of Fayette County, Pennsylvania, Volume II, and have come across a significant name change that might be of help to a Grover researcher who has lost one of their Grover ancestors.
Page 575, Georges Twp states:
"May 12, 1838, JOSEPH GROVER, alias WILLIAM F. MISSILDINE, of Medina County, Ohio, was called, and accepted the call at $150.00 per year. After acting as pastor for a time he became popular and married into one of the most highly respectable families in the church. Soon there came a report injurious to his character; upon inquiry it was found to be true. Upon finding that his true character was known he left the country and never returned. "
Hope this helps someone.
Best regards,
