The Rev. G.W. Emmanuel Metzger founded a Lutheran church in Liverpool Ohio and married my gggrandparents in 1834. I recently learned that Rev. Metzger did service work in Africa
and married a black woman and in 1833 she gave birth to son named Theophilus. This woman died in 1847 and the Rev. married a white woman and she gave birth to twins in 1847. According to the 1850 census Rev. Metzger was living with a white woman and 4 mulatto children as well as the white twins.
