William Hall 1868-1872 Adopted by Newman Family?

I'm looking for information on William Hall, born 1868-1872, who may have been adopted by the John (wife-Elizabeth, children - Elizabeth and Jacob) Newman family living in Tully Township acccording to the 1870 census. In the 1880 census, William H. is shown with the Peter (wife - Catherine, children - Edward F. and William H.) Newman, also in Tully. William Hall (if he's the right one)moved to Washington County, Ohio, married Mary Closz and left when his son, Floyd, was one-year-old.
