Can you get any further information from the gravestone? Age would help. I looked at the 1910 census for Kern's in Austintown twp and found only one: William Kern, age 38, and wife (looks like it says Lucy but not certain) and daughter Amy age 10 (born PA) and a few other kids. No James Lynn at that time. My thinking would be that he was Lucy's family. That is where age would be a factor. Father? Brother? Just a thought. Good luck.
