Where did your family live?

My ancestor settled at Berg Hill 1826. I am told it is about 2-6 miles north of Masury,OH. The family name I am searching is Joseph Custer.

I can't locate further back than 1825 for Joseph. Suspect he comes from the line of Emanuel Custer & Ann Miller. Cannot prove. I know we belong to that line, cannot prove which branch though.

Joseph is either a half brother of Emanuel Henry Custer, or an uncle, son of Emanuel Custer & Ann Miller. Emanuel Henry was m. second time 23 February 1836, New Rumley, Harrison Co., OH. Joseph d. before 08 Apr 1837. General was b. 05 December 1839. My deceased brother was a clone of the General, looked very much like him without the mustache.

The General's grandfather, John Custer, was in Trumbull Co., OH 1815-1816 at Hartford, Trumbull Co., OH. His grandfather, John Custer's sisters, Charlotte and Mary, also lived there. Charlotte lived in Bristol in 1826. Mary was also in Trumbull Co. in 1830 according to tax rolls. The two Custer sister's married into the Cummings lines.

Thanks, again.
