There's no obit for either James or Mary, no luck there. Mary died March 23, 1923. She was born July 22, 1850 in Madison Co.
The family folders are buried somewhere in the Historical Society along with about 80 some boxes, so I couldn't check to see about John's parents. There was no lead in the 1883 history of madison co on him. Sarah's parents are Levin Jones and Ann Truitt, married in Mad. Co Dec 8, 1825. If you look in rootsweb and list them both, you'll find out other researchers have posted info on them.
I found Sarah with her parents in the 1850 census in Pleasant Twp a few houses away from John Bricker. John was not with his parents, he was with apparently his sisters Ann and Mary A. John and Sarah are still in Fairfield Twp in the 1860 census with Joseph, James and John. 1870 census shows the same 5 plus Ellen and Emma Rhoda, but I'm certain that Ellen is really Allen. On Allen's death cert, it shows him being born Jan 25, 1861, the same year as Ellen is on the census. Allen died in Franklin Co Mar 13, 1931. In the 1880 census in Fairfield Twp, John and Emma R is still with their Mother. Emma married John W Goings Nov 13, 1887 in Mad Co. But I believe Emma died between 1887 and the 1900 census because Sarah says she had 7 children born, but only 4 living which would be Joseph, James, John, and Allen. They are still in Fairfield Twp in the 1900 census also.
John W Goings is in the 1910 census in Pleasant Twp listed as being married twice, being married for 6 years, and 1930 in Franklin Co still married to May
Since theres no printer for us at the Historical Society, I'll get copies at the Court House for marriages for
Levin Jones and Ann Truitt Dec 8, 1825
Emma and John W. Goings Nov 13, 1887
John and Sarah Jones Mar 20, 1851
John H. and Martha Jane Dennison Jan 3, 1901
Couldn't find marriages for James and Joseph in Mad. Co
I don't know if you know about the web site Madison Co Juvenile/Probate Court of not. It lists all birth, death, marriages, etc for the county from the beginning up to 1996. I hope you can follow this, if not email me at
They still don't know for sure when they'll be set up so I can finish the family for you.
