I just checked Joseph's obit and no luck, just a 5 liner listing when he died and where his funeral was at. I might be telling you some things you already know, if so just ignore me, but if not it might help. Are you aware of Roots web and M. T. Jones's at webmaster@jonesgenealogy.net and his posting. He has this line posted there and mentions the DNA testing that Diana Matthiesen is doing trying to prove the Stroup/Straub line back to Pieter Straub in Grossgartach, Wuertteumberg in 1695. I just looked in Y-search and theres 21 Stroup/Straub lines that has the DNA results back in family tree DNA. I can verify that this DNA does work at least it did for me. I took it about 3 months ago, there were just 3 of us and 2 of us matched back to 1600 in the Netherlands at 8 generations.
