Thank you for answering my query which I see now was written incorrectly. It was William's mother's maiden name I was requesting. But it worked out just great. I didn't have the month & day of Nancy's birth nor her parents names. I didn't know she had been married before.(There is a record of a petition for divorce for Asenath & Francis D.French filed July 1834 Madison Co.)William & Nancy's marriage record is in Vol. 4 P. 99 No. 50 in Franklin Co 18 July 1845 by David Howard J.P. To Martin Anklin Sept. 27, 1866.
I have a copy of Nancy's Civil War Widow's Pension Claim which has her signature. Also Wm's Discharge and the Claim of Guardian of Orphan Children for Pension. Sylvester W. Durflinger was appointed guardian and it was witnessed by Christopher Plimell (wife Isabelle Jane). I have a photo of the tombstone but did not find Nancy's there. Do you know where she's buried?
I also have a photo of a very small woman seated, hair parted in the middle - must be in a tight bun at the back, looking very prim & proper. There is a pretty, young girl standing to her right. They are in period dresses. I would think mother & daughter. On the back it only identifys "Grandma French - Nancy Ann O'Hand (Irish) - French (Irish)".
Most of my French/Plimell/Plymell files are hand written & charted by my grandmother, granddaughter of William & Nancy.
If I can help you in turn please let me know.
