My guess is that they did elope to Toledo and possibly, decided to be married in a church ceremony rather than by a judge or J.P. Did either have relatives in Toledo?

The Chesebro photo shop was within walking distance of several churches; St. John's and St. Stephen's, both Lutheran and St. Peter's Catholic. St. Patrick's, another Catholic church, was/is only about a mile away. St. Patrick's was a mostly Irish parish but the other three churches had many German parishoners.

I will check for her marriage although some Catholic marriages were only recorded with the church.

PS. There is a Groesbeck Street in Toledo, east of Collingwood and Dorr, that is maybe two miles from South St. Clair Street.
