Good Morning, Bill.
Thank you for that information; sounds like it might have been a small studio (as opposed to a "chain"). We thought she had married in Detroit, but have been unable to verify that, at this time. Now we are thinking that she, and my grandfather might have "eloped".
Grannie's maiden name was: Mabel C. Groesbeck, b: 19 Sept 1888, and Gramp's was: William Louis Hansen, b: 24 June 1888 in MI. As the only census that I've found them on, while married, was in 1920; the only verification we have is that they stated that they were married at 17 (each). Which would mean, that they married after 19 Sept 1905 (when she turned 17), and before 24 June 1906 (when he would have turned 18). We are still trying to verify where she was born, 1900 Census says MI (she's living w/her Grandfather, Alexander Groesbeck in Bloomfield, Oakland Cty, MI), 1920 Census says IL, and her death certificate March 1927) states, born in Detroit. Per info provided by Gramp, her Father was: Fred Grossbeck; also states that Fred was born in Atkinson IL. Who knows?
Any help, or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks again, for the information that you have provided.
Mary Lou (in Dansville NY)
