Thank you! Don't know if Dad was with the hunting party that day (we lived just north of there, at Brint & Mitchaw). Can't actually remember Uncle Phonse myself, have a hazy memory of him being laid out in their parlor, in the house there on Point Place. Last i knew, Aunt Mary was still alive; has outlived all her siblings. I knew there was an Okuley connection there somewhere, didn't know about the Fisher connection. I'm still trying to find the name of his first wife (Sister Dominic's mother).
Do you go through the Blade at the library? Do you know if anyone has it online?
Have used DasTelefonbuch a bit, for all my German names. Found both spellings (Nöthen/Noethen) -- according to the new Rechtschreibung, the umlaut is OUT, to be replaced with the -ae-, -oe-, -ue- spellings. Another concession to englisch keyboards, neh? Since i'm not a speed-typist, i still tend to use the umlauts and ess-zed.
Coincidentally, Mayen is just a few klicks north of Kaifenheim, from whence my Mom's Laubenthal line emigrated. Noethens are from my Dad's side. Hard to remember how small Germany (and Europe) really is.
