My great-grandfather was August Sommerfeld born ca 1841 in Zabno, Posen. He was married in 1865 to Henrietta Behnke born November 15, 1846 in Breitenstein. They had five children: Otilie A. born March 22, 1872 in Mogilno; Julius Herman born February 5, 1877 in Ruhheim; Emil Gustav, my grandfather, born February 6, 1880 in Ruhheim; Richard born July 4, 1883 in Ruhheim; and Ida Clara born June 9 1886 in Zabno. They immigrated to the United States in 1892 and settled first in Minnesota and later in Hillsboro, North Dakota. Our family tradition has been that August had at least two brothers who also immigrated, possibly before him, to the United States and lived in Toledo, Ohio. It is believed that one brother may have been named Herman. We would appreciate any information that you may have regarding Herman Sommerfeld of Toledo that would help us prove or disprove the relationship. Thanks!
