I didn't double-check, but I think I was going by the 1925 census. Unfortunately he apparently didn't give his mother's name and no one knows who she was. I have never been able to find the family in Ohio although over half of the children were born there about 1840 on. One, Douglas, I haven't been able to locate at all although there is a "possibility" in CA. I had understood that Robert Bruce and two brothers, William Wallace and Edwin, were born in Franklin Co. The father, Alexander, was a weaver born in Scotland about 1795. A daughter, Maria, and a son, Alexander, were born in New York about 1836 and 1837-and later, a daughter, Rachel, was born in Illinois. I have found the father from 1860-1880-but no children or wife until 1880. Surely there is some way to locate them and/or find out at least the mother's first name!
