Bill:
Ohio Vital Records was very speedy with my request and I have received Morris Prettyman's death cert from 1954. It states that his parents were Emerson PRettyman and Eva Robinson. The 1880 census record you provided inyour message shows that Emerson was 6 years old in 1880. Morris was born abt 1891...you do the math. On the same page of that census, about 2 residences down you'll find the family of George Robinson Jr. He lists a daughter "Abbie" age 7. I can account for all of George's other children except "Abbie" and can only conclude that she is the same as "Eva." In this way only can Morris be George's grandson as stated in George's will.
The death cert states that Morris was buried in "Perrysburg Cemetery" in Perrysburg (Wood County). I have not found a cemetery by that name. It is not Fort Meigs Cemetery (although Morris' cousinL. G. "Elgie" Robinson is buried there). Will keep looking.
No idea what happened to Eva/Abbie; she does not appear in any census after 1880. Maybe she remarried; maybe died.
The death cert informant was "Leila Cotton." I think in the 1920 census Morris shows a daughter named Leila.
FYI, I did some research on Emerson Prettyman. It seems he applied for a passport in 1905, and his name appears on a passenger list on a ship returning from Buenos Aires in 1923, which explains why he does not appear in any census after 1880 until 1930.
