I find the couple of "World Family Tree, Vol 7, Ed. 1" on Ancestry.com, although no parents given for Mary her date of b. is noted as 1831, d. marriage 1849, d. death 1865 in Lorain County.
Unfortunately, as you may know, the death records in late 1800's were only a notation in a court record book with date, name, and possibly the cause. There were no official "death records" per se with spouse, age, parents, and so on. Also I did not note anything in the online searchable newspapers for Whipple / Calkins around the year of her death or marriage.
Can you locate the couple in the US Census in 1850? I found them in 1860, but not in 1850 where they would have been married. If you can find them in 1850, I would then look at the Whipples in the same area. Then take the head of household Whipple names back to the 1840 Census and note family changees. That may give you a lead.
I'm sorry I could not help you further. Best regards.
