In case someone has not noted this yet for you, there are some places you can check:
The Lorain County cemeteries that are transcribed and online can be accessed via http://www.usgenweb.net Pmce there, selece the state at the left, and then for Ohio, click the red box in the upper right-hand corner, then select Lorain. On that initial page, scroll down a bit and you can search all records by entering "Cotton" in the search engine.
If the particular cemetery that you are looking for is not transcribed, then on the main Lorain County Link, select Cemeteries, and there will be instructions on who to contact. I have the book transcription of the Greenwood Cemetery in Wellington, and I checked that for you... no Cotton names there (ruling the possiblity out, it is one of the larger cemeteries in Lorain County).
I'm trying to find some earlier messages about the surname "Laubenthal." What a memory... that was your message I responded to in July 2005! It's good to see you're still around here on the forums, Kenneth.

Another very good resource is Ancestry.com. I'm not a salesman, but they have come a long way in providing Census, Newspaper, Imigration, and military records, to mention a few. They have a one month subscription that is not very expensive and I used to let my "research wants" pile up, and then subscribe for one month and then hit the books. But, they have brought down the price of an annual US subscription and now I pay annually. But the Lorain County newspapers are very extensively available, (that is if the copy was available for scanning). A search for Laubenthal brings up quite a few references in the 1900, and only few in the 1800's. I searched specifically for the 1867 date, and did not see a hit for any marriage notations, however. A search for "Cotton" brings up too numerous of hits due to the proximity of sewing circles, and types of material, wool and cotton included.
I hope a couple of the URL's above give you some new avenues.
