The name Reid is very prominent in the early history of Lorain, Ohio. I don't know who Mary Reid was, but if she was the daughter of Conrad Reid (1802 -1883)there would be much information on the family available. Conrad was a very prominent early settler of Black River, which later became Lorain. I believe that he was in fact the first mayor of Lorain. If you wish, I could check an 1840 Ohio census microfilm of Lorain County to see if Conrad had a daughter named Mary. Another option would be to contact the Black River Historical Society, 440-245-2563. They could probably tell you if Mary was Conrad's daughter. An early history of Lorain County indicates that Conrad had one daughter, but doesn't give a name.
