Seeking information or family connections in the following:
Joseph Thomas, born in Virginia married to a Mary or Sarah (possibly last name Palmer) between 1865 and 1870. Children listed as born in Ohio are daughters Sarah, Ida, and Zoa. I found informaton on LDS record search of Zoa's birth as 14 March 1877 in Perry Township. Licking Ohio, and Ida's birth as 18 April 1871 in Licking, Ohio. Zoa's record indicates parents as Joseph Thomas and Sarah E. Palmer. Ida's record does not indicate parents.
1880 Iowa census places family in Jasper County, Iowa, but only mother and father and wife's name is Mary. In a 1885 County Census of Iowa (information found on US GenWeb Archives site)daughters Sarah age 15, Ida age 10, Zoa age 7, are all listed as birth in Ohio. A son Frank, age 1, is listed as being born in Story County, Iowa, and once again wife's name is Mary.

I believe this to be my ggguncle Joseph Thomas born in Virginia in 1848 to Cassandra Hudson and Job Thomas. According to family tradition he deserted the south and fought for the north. According to his obit, he received a federal pension for his Civil War service, and at his death in 1920 in Charlottesville, Virginia it indicated that he had been married 5 times (last time in Charlottesville,Va) and left several children in Iowa. In interviewing one of my elderly aunts, she was only able to tell me the names of some of his chilren which included, a Sarah, Ida, Zoa(e), and a Harriet.

If anyone has info concerning this family I would love to hear from you and share what I have.
