"Mr. Harrison Hartman. The deceased, a resident of Madison Township, died at his home September 19, 1886, aged 74 years, 7 months, and 9 days. He was a native of the Valley of Virginia, but had spent nearly all the years of his adult life in Ohio, and principally in Licking county, especially the latter half of his life. Many children survive him. He was a member of the English Lutheran Church."

[2d obit] "Harrison Hartman died at his home in Madison township, September 19th, 1886, aged 74 years, 7 months and 9 days. He had been a long sufferer of a terrible stomach trouble, not knowing what his disease was until the last few weeks of his life. The doctor pronounced it cancer in the stomach. He was very patient with his suffering. He was the father of Perry Hartman, who, was lost in that terrible railroad accident at Bellville, O., three years ago. He was a good husband and a kind father. He leaves a wife and eleven children to mourn his death."
