Wright family Licking Co., OH

I apologize as I have also posted this on the OHIO forum...sorry for the duplication.

I am writing because I am looking for my great grandfathers family in Newark, Licking Co., OH from the 1850-1880 time frame.
My great Grandfather, Samuel J. Wright, was born about 1833, perhaps in NY or Michigan. In 1860 and 1870 he is living in Butte County, California, as a Gold Miner and then as a Blacksmith. In 1881 he passes away, leaving his widow, Silvy J. (Ikirt) Wright with five young children. She takes some of them, including my grandfather, Bertram Samuel Wright b. 1877 to an orphanage in Vallejo, California, where she reports that Sam's family is in Newark, Licking County, Ohio, and originally immigrated from Scotland.

He is on the 1860-1880 census' in California.

My Mother was Marylou Wright, Sam Wright is her grandfather, he is the very last great grandfather I am researching as I have located much information about all the other great grandfathers in my tree. Sam is near and dear to my heart as Wright is my mothers maiden name. The desire to find Sam's family is tremendous.

Since Samuel J Wright was in Newark, OH likely in the 1850's but misses that census I am looking to locate Sam's family or to communicate with someone who is studying the various Wright families in Newark, so I can find out which Wright family may be Sam's. Wright is a common name and I am hoping for the best. He is 17 or 18 in 1850 and I cannot find him on the 1850 census anywhere.

Can you please refer me to someone who is also studying the Wright families of Newark? or is there are any written genealogies for the Wright's of Newark? or is anyone able to help in any way I have not thought of?

Thank you so much for your consideration and any help.

Jill O'Neall Ching of Sacramento, CA.
