On February 3, 1905, the earthly life of BENJ. F. MURPHY was ended and his soul returned to the Maker. BENJAMIN FRANKLIN MURPHY was born at Mt. Vernon, Ohio, September 21, 1834. Here he spent his boyhood and early manhood. He came to Chariton in 1855 and has been a resident of this county sice that time. He was married to MARTHA EDNA WAYNICK, September 21, 1858 in this city, to which union there were born four children, three having died in infancy; WALLACE W. living southwest of this city, being the only surviving child.

Funeral services held at the M.E. Church, Sunday, February 5, 1905, conducted by Rev. Dr. Franklin. A large number of friends were present to honor a long and fruitful life, and comfort the bereaved ones, mother and son and relatives.

MR. MURPHY was loved by all those who knew him and he was always spoken of in the highest of terms. His memory will live in the hearts of his friends as long as life shall be with them.
