My bad typing said that Memorial Hospital was not a resthome. I meant it is now a rest home.
I think that the Memorial Hospital was once a sanitorium about 1930 or 1940, the hospital was bought or dedicated to a man named Bert Martin and when I was a kid it became the Bert Martin Memorial Hospital.
It was just a hospital, not a mental hospital. There were two hospitals in Mt. Vernon and they merged and became the Knox C ( don't know what that stands for) Hospital. KCH hosptial was built in probably the 1980's or so.
I am not sure, but I think I was born at Memorial hospital or what ever its name was in 1938.
The Knox Co., Health board has birth and death records after 1908 and I think that marriage records are in Probate Court and probably in the genealogy department at the library in Mt. Vernon. I think the library may have birth and death records also.
The phone number for the library is 740-392-2665
The phone number for Knox Co., Probate Court is 740-393-6798
