My Johnson/Johnston ancestors came from Washington Co., PA to Knox Co., Ohio between 1815 and 1820. Eleazor Johnston appears in the 1810 Nottingham Twp., Washington Co. PA census. He then appears in the 1820 Union Twp., Knox Co., Ohio census. Around this time the "t" was dropped from Johnston. Eleazor's wife was Margaret ? and they had 8 children that I know of, Ruthy b. abt. 1803 (m. Jacob Umphreys in 1821), Jane b. 1807 (m. Joseph Vernon in 1827), my gggg grandfather John b. 1811 (m. Amy McCraner in 1836), Henry b. 1813 (m. Elizabeth Lahmon in 1838), Warden b. 1816 (m. Mariah Frye in 1848), Eleazor b. abt. 1820, and two other daughters I don't have names for. All children were married in Knox Co., Ohio. Eleazor died in 1848 at the age of 77 years and is buried in Ebenezer Cemetery in Knox Co., Ohio. For the most part, my Johnsons lived in Monroe Twp. I would love to know more of my Johnston/Johnson's Pennsylvania roots.
