Paula, I am really looking for any info on these families but what I have is this Peter Derrow married Mary Jane Serrels in Ashland County 1848. She was not of age yet marriage cert says brother... father dead mother gave consent sig John Serrels. They had the following children: Isabella, Isaiah (Isaac), Selethiel, Ella, Jane, Franklin and more Seliethiel married Essa M. Searles in 1874 in Van Wert county, her name has been found different ways both first & last Serrels is one of them, they were my great grandparents and supposedly first cousins, I figure that is why they moved to Van Wert County, Oh. They had 9 children. I'm looking for a serrels family with a father dead before 1848 and a son named John & daughter named Mary Jane. The lead i have is from a will i've found of a Robert Serrels he leaves Isabella Serrels the widow of his late son Samuel the house where she lives in Auglaize county with three children. It does not name her children or tell if she had others that were already gone. Peter Derrow was born in ohio as well possible fathers i have for him are Jacob Derrow b. 1800 in Va and David Derrow also b in Va who had a son joab Derrow b. May 1, 1835 Knox County, OH.
I also know that there was a Serrels family in Van Wert County late 1800's who had a daughter named Essie Serrels I'm thinking this may be my Essa's brother. Thomas Serrels & Emma Nicholas has a daughter Essie Serrels in Delphos, OH on Feb 13, 1892. So maybe thomas was my Essa's brother. I hope you can make sense of all of this but right now anything you have on these 2 families would be appreciated because sooner or later i'm gonna tie them together!
Have a Merry Christmas!
