I am trying to find a branch of my tree. It is my maternal grandmother's family. The surname I am searching for is actually Sheffler but somewhere along the line it has become Stiffler. I am trying to find the lineage of Elizabeth Stiffler married to George Brunton in Jackson Co., Jackson Ohio.
Here is the information I do have:
Mary Elizabeth Stiffler; father was Peter Stiffler (b.9 May 1797 Bedford Pa.) and her mother was Mary Gorsuch (no dates found for her).
Mary Gorsuch; father was John Gorsuch (no dates found for him) and mother was Mary McClung (b. about 1773 and d. after 1850 in Ohio).
I have information on the Stiffler side back to Balthasar Claar in Switzerland. I am searching for any information on the mother's side. Anything on the Gorsuch's, McClung's, and beyond that.
If anyone has any information they can share with me or a direction I can go in, I would appreciate it.
