Amos F. Smith and Rebecca Smith Covert, Seneca, NY to Huron Co., OH

Amos Franklin and Rebecca Hopkins (?) Smith left Covert, Seneca Co., New York in 1836 and resettled in Fairfiled Twp., Huron Co., Ohio.

They owned land adjacent to Havillah and Daniel Smith, but no relationship has been proven.

Huron Co., Ohio Deed Book 9, pg. 70

Heirs of Amos Smith to Henry Blish, quit claim deed, for $1050, Lot 24 of North Fairfield, about 1/3 acre, 25 Jul 1857

Heirs were Walter and Druzilla Holmes, H.T. Smith, administrator of J.H. Smith, Lydia Smith, Belinda Smith, Franklin Smith, Fidelia Smith, Thomas Smith, Allia Smith, and A.M. Curran.

H.T. Smith was Homer T. Smith, J.H. Smith was Jonathan Hopkins Smith, and A.M. Curran was Allen Miller Curran, widower of Hannah Elizabeth Smith Curran and father of their son, Harry Dwight Curran. Belinda (Holmes) Smith was the widow of Jonathan Hopkins Smith anda sister of Walter Holmes, husband of Druzilla Smith.

Rebecca Hopkins Smith had already given her son-in-law, Allen Miller Curran, power of attorney to settle her affairs in Huron Co. (Huron Co. Deed Book 8, pg. 621-22)

Amos and Rebecca Hopkins Smith also have several real estate dealings in Huron Co., with Jacob Cole, her likely first cousin, son of Elisha and Rebecca Townsend Hopkins Cole Jr. Rebecca T. Hopkins Cole was the sister of Rebecca Hopkins Smith's father, Thomas Hopkins. Another neighbor was Rebecca's other first cousin James Hopkins, son of Thatcher Hopkins, a brother to Rebecca's father Thomas

The Smith and Hopkins families had ancestors and extended family in Carmel, Putnam Co., New York and Dutchess Co.
