Thank you very much for this information. It is in fact very helpful since I was at a dead end with Mary Gere (listed as Mary Coe Gere) and was ready to assume she died young. Your information breaks that case. Also it is grreat fun to learn more abour what people did in their lives rather than just gather dates. I was surprised that no mention was made in the Huron histories of Jabez Gere but he may have returned to NY before dying in the 1849. If you have easy access to those directories, you might see if they mention William & Phoebe Schenck, parents of Mary Schenck who married William E, Gere in Huron County in Dec. 1845. William and Mary later moved to Wisconsin (1850 census) and then Illinois (1860-80 census). Any information on these people would be of great value to me. Again many thanks.
