In History of Huron and Erie Counties, Ohio, p.293, there is a brief description of this church. "The Church of God ( in Huron Co., Ohio ) was organized by Rev. William Shafer in about 1855....Meetings were held in the school house in district number five until the erection of the Bethel in 1860. This building is located on lot number eighteen in the third section. It was built by subscription and is open to all religious denominations..." It was located somewhere near Egypt Rd.
The "Bethel" burned down sometime in the late 1960's or early 1970's. the cemetary remains. Is there additional information in newspaper articles or postcards concerning this church? Is the church mentioned in newspaper in Tiffin or Willard, Ohio. Is the Tiffin newspaper indexed? Are there any existing records for the church at the Church of God headquarters?thank You.
