#7. Ichabod Sheafer(-1-11--1-----/2-11--1-----)
Ichabod lives 6 houses away from John.
I know nothing of this family, I did find a record of a Ichabod Shafer who married Patty Tharp 26, Feb. 1808 in Muskingum County Ohio,(is this the same person?)
In the 1840 Census of Bennington Twp in Licking Co. the above named Aaron is living near Nicholas and Isach (a son of Nicholas).
In the 1850 Census Nicholas Shaffer is living with Aaron Shaffer, Nicholas is age 63 born in Pennsylvania,
Joseph's family moved back to Fairfield County I think before the 1840 Census, Joseph was deceased by 1835,John and son Abner are living in Fairfield County by 1840 in Liberty Township, most of the rest of Johns family is over in Coshocton County.
I believe there may be a connection between these Shaffer families, I believe there is a good possibility that John,Nicholas and Joseph may be brothers or cousins,
Nicholas I believe is the father of both Moses and Isaach listed above.
The Alspach family is from the Schullykill area of Pennsylvania.
Another son of Johns married Elizabeth Alspach, a sister to the other Alspach girls listed above, thier parents are Henry R. Alspach and Anna Maria Herner
It is a good possibility that they are from Berk County Pennsylvania,Lancaster or Northumberland County. I believe they may be connected to the Shaffer/Shaver families of Maryland and West Virginia.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. These Shaffer's have been a mystery a long time, and I would love to get some answers.
I am not certain if Ichabod is connected to these Shaffers, but I am open to any possibilities.
Thank you in advance for any help.
