SARAH JANE REED was born August ll, l844, in Holmes County, Ohio, and died at Leon, Iowa, December 5, l924; aged 80 years, 3 months and 2l days. When a child of twelve years, she moved with her parents to Iowa and spent the remainder of her life in this State, except a few years that she lived in Missouri.

She was united in marriage to HENRY W. ELWELL, June 25, l863. To this union were born seven children, three having passed away in infancy. Those still living are: LOUIS W. ELWELL and MRS. JONN MYERS, of Leon, and T.A. ELWELL and MRS. FRANK MYERS, of Oklahoma.

When a young girl, MRS. ELWELL united with the Methodist Church and later placed her membership with the Christian Church at Allerton, and when the home was made in Leon she brought her membership here. She had always been a faithful and willing worker until poor health prevented.

MRS. ELWELL is survived by her husband, four children, eighteen grandchildren, two great grandchildren, one sister, one brother, and a host of friends and other relatives who mourn her departure.

Services were held Sunday afternoon, Dec. 7th in the Christian Church at Leon, Rev. Roy B. Weaklend, officiating. Interment was made in the Leon Cemetery.
