Dear Sue,
I have extensive information on Aaron Friend.I have not entered all of it into my computer so, it would probably be easier for you to contact me at [email protected] and give me your snail mail address.I will be happy to copy the information and send it to you.Did you know that Aaron was married twice and that he and Sophia had 7 children?
As for Caleb Hedges Jr., I do not know this to be fact but, if I had to make an educated guess, he was probably raised by Samuel and Elizabeth Friend, (parents of George Friend). The reason I say this is because, I have it documented that "Samuel Friend was assignee of Levi Hedges with Samuel receiving his land patent on February 5, 1812." & "Samuel Friend & Henry Buzzard, assignees of Levi Hedges, purchased their land on credit as cash for land did not begin until 1820." Elizabeth was born in Maryland. There has been no marriage record found for Samuel and Elizabeth. There first son was born 1790 in PA and they arrived in Ohio c.1802.arriving in Fairfield Co, OH 1805.At one time Hocking Co was part of Fairfield Co.Samuel owned land and later moved to the land which is located in Hocking Co.George, son of Samuel raised his children in Hocking Co., Perry TWP.Aaron is the son of George. Was Levi Hedges the father of Caleb? If this information does not work then I would guess it to be a brother of Samuel's.Usually, if children went to live with another family it was because one or both parents had died.I know of one Friend family that took in a bunch of his brothers children after the childrens mother had died.Maybe Caleb will be listed in this household but, it will take me some time to find it.
There are a lot of Friends and I have more information that I can read through, and will, to see if I can find your information for sure.It has been my finding that the families of this time period moved, prayed, and married with in each others families.I hope this helps. Please let me know if it did and contact me at my email address for more information or questions.
Sincerely,
Brenda
