Seeking children of Lexie Jane Swisshelm (b.17 Apr 1892/d. 1 Jul 1965 Hillsboro)

I am looking for information about my great grandmother, Lexie Jane Swisshelm.

I have her lineage charted out, so I am not seeking ancestry, but I am most curious as to who she may have had children with before my grandmother (Buelah Mae Newman) was born, and would like to know if anyone has heard of this. BTW: Beulah Newman married Robert Byrl Caplinger and used to run a store in Hillsboro called "The Jelly Bean Cupboard". Many of you may have met her.

Buelah said that, growing up, she had always thought that she was the oldest child born to her mother, but when she saw her birth certificate when she was older, she noticed that on it, it said that she was the FOURTH child born to her. (I do not have a copy of the birth certificate - working on this!)

Lexie is mentioned on this census (Buelah's name is misspelled here):

Name was spelled incorrectly on the 1930 census, but this does give me her middle name:
1930 Fairfield, Highland, Ohio
V. A. Newman, Head, Male, White, 36, Married at age 24, OH, OH, OH, Farmer
Lexie Newman, Wife, Female, White, 36, Married at age 24, OH, OH, OH
Bula Mae Newman, Daughter, Female, White, 10, Single, OH, OH, OH
Berlyn Newman, Son, Male, White, 8, Single, OH, OH, OH
Richard Newman, Son, Male, White, 6, Single, OH, OH, OH

As you can calculate from the above, Lexie married Valie Arthur Newman in about 1918. At the time of the 1930 census, they were both 36 and stated that they were both 24 when they were married.

Beulah was born in 1920, 2 years after they were married. Lexie would have been 26 at the time of her birth. So if Lexie had 3 other children, they would likely have been born between 1908 and 1917/1918.

Beulah said that she overheard her mother's Swisshelm sisters saying that Lexie had been with someone by the name of "Plummer" (Plumber?) but he had gone of to the war and no one had heard of him again. I suspect that these lost children may be his.

From what Buelah said, she suspected that they may have been given up for adoption.

If any of you have any information that can help me track down these lost children, I would certainly appreciate hearing from you.

Thank you
Linda Caplinger
