I happened upon the following posting from the Drake message board on Ancestry.com that I thought you might find of interest:
"History of Wabash County
James W. Drake p. 266
James W. Drake was born in Brown Co., OH Dec 16, 1812. He received a common education, working night and morning ro pay boaard and ruition and was reared as a farmer, which occupation he has followed throughout his life. He worked also at carpenter work which trade he learned in Ohio for twenty-five years in connection with farming. He was married, Oct 14, 1835 to Miss Didema Judkins, born in Highland Co., OH Feb 20, 1818. They have had one child, Lovina R., born Jul 14, 1857, and married September 18, 1878 to W. P. Gardner. Mr Drake first came to this State in 1838, and settled in Huntington County, where he remained until 1846, when he moved to La Gro, in this county, and stayed five years, after which he located where he now resides on a 220-acre farm. Mr. Drake raised the first building, did the first log-rolling and cut the first harvest that was done without the aid of whisky in Huntington County. Though a strict temperance man from birth, he never belonged to any temperance orgaization other than the Methodist Epsicopal Church and the Masonic fraternity, of which organizations he is a member. He and Mr. Gotten were the only two men that voted "no license" in La Gro Township at the time that issue was before the people of the state. His father, Joshua Drake was born in Washington Co., PA in 1773 and married Rebecca Watson, a native of the same State. Joel Judkins, the father of Mrs. Drake, was born in VA, September 20, 1778, and married Rebecca Drake who was born September 20, 1788. He died Mar 11, 1859 and she October 13, 1862. They had the following children: Elizabeth, John E., Mary, Franklin B., Didema, Delitha and Lovina."
