Joe, did Henry C BENDEL m Louisa MILLER?
I'm trying to ascertain if you are tracking the right Henry.
I'm having a hard time trying to figure out why he would be bur in Harrison OH, as he spent his adult life in Mason Co KY; his wife and dau Emma bur in Maysville, Mason Co KY. Henry also served from KY bef his enlistment in OH.
Do you have his CW Pension File? He d bef 1898 when Louisa filed. Louisa d Mason KY 1929, but not finding Henry in KY Deaths.
Henry's headstone was erected 1901. The service info matches his CW pension, which also includes his KY service.

Freeport Twp has many cemeteries, including Freeport Presbyterian and Freeport Methodist. I doubt very much if there was a specific CW burial ground in Harrison Co.

I'm not finding Henry prior to the 1880 census, other than his marriage 4-17-1871 [ae 27] Mason Co KY. On marriage license he states both parents b Germany.

Phyl....volunteer
