If you are still able to look up information, would you look up some births for me?
I have a grandfather named Charles McHugh (b. abt. 1808, Ireland) who I believe may have first married a Jane Palmer in Columbiana Co., OH in 1831. I'm presuming she died soon after marriage, as I then found the marriage of a Charles McHugh to a Jane McCamis in Harrison Co., OH on Jan. 24, 1833. (I believe Jane M's family came from bordering Jefferson Co.)
Before migrating to Decatur Co, IN in the late 1840's, they had several children including:
a. William b. abt. 1837;
b. Margaret b. Sept. 1839;
c. David b. 1845; and
d. Catharine b. abt. 1847.
I've been using the census to track family members, but the census isn't always perfect and doesn't provide exact dates and places.
I realize Ohio law didn't require recordings of birth in the early 1800's, but I'm hoping that your records were compiled from early sources that include births.
I want to verify the marriage and also confirm if the births of these children took place in Harrison County.
