THOMAS J. MILLER PARENTS AND SIBLINGS
Posted by: THOMAS BAY (ID *****0010) Date: February 14, 2004 at 09:28:42

Iím looking for information about Levy (Levi) Miller, his wife Susan Johnson, and their family and ancestors. Here is what I have on this family so far: From secondary source, Levy and wife were evidently in that part of Hopewell Twp., Washington County PA which became Independence Twp. by at least 1838 when son Thomas Johnson Miller was born. In 1840 census there is a Levi Miller in Hopewell - he would have been born 1800-1810 and she, 1810-1820.

My problem - I canít find these folks in 1850-1860-1870-1880 census information. Susan shows up in 1900, age 86, living with son Thomas J. in Harrison County, OH.

In 1870 Thomas J. had a Levi B. Miller living with him and his family in Pittsburgh; this was probably a younger brother. Tom had married Mary Ann Elizabeth Munden in 1869 in Allegheny City, PA.

Civil war information from internet places Thomas J. in 1st WV Infantry (Independence, Washington County is right on the WV/PA line), and mentions 1861 enlistment PO address of New Cumberland, Hancock County VA (this part became WV later); birthplace Washington County, PA; reenlisted in Wheeling, WV.

Possible younger brother, William J. enlisted same time, same company. William says he was born in Wellsburg, WV (near Independence) and enlisted at Independence.

Will surely appreciate any leads on Levy (Levi) and Susan - where they were from 1850 - 1880, where they came from and all.

Thanks. Tom Bay, Columbus, OH
