Thomas A. Newell and his wife are buried at Longview Cemetery, Bowerston, Ohio. Dates on stone are Thomas A.: 1851-1891; Charlotte A.: 1851-1941.

       Newell, Charlotte 28 wife keeping house Oh Oh Oh
       Newell, Ada 6 dau Oh Oh Oh
       Newell, Etha 3 dau Oh Oh Oh
       Newell, John 1 son Oh Oh Oh
       150 Wood, Joel 32 dentist Oh Md Md
       Wood, Mattie 28 wife keeping house Oh Oh Oh

The Wood couple were a separate family in the same house.


In the 1870 census of Monroe Twp., Thomas Newell,age 19, was a clerk in a dry goods store operated by Charles McKean and living with the McKean family.

In 1845 the Methodists at Leesville, Carroll Co., Ohio, a short distance north of Bowerston, built a new church. On the building committee was John Newell.
