Dear Kaye,

Thank you for your response to my query. When I originally posted, I thought I was directly related to the Dewey Family of Cadiz Ohio since my great grandfather's name was Chauncy Dewey Brown. However, after further research, it appears that although Chauncy's father, Melford J. Brown at one time worked for Chauncy Dewey, the families are not related. As I understand the history of the town, Orville Dewey gave a detailed genealogy of the Dewey family in a newspaper interview. Both Chauncy Dewey and Melford J. Brown presided over banks in Cadiz in the second half of the 19th century.
