Dewey Family of Harrison County, Ohio
Posted by: Karen Harris Date: February 09, 2001 at 21:55:03
  of 740

I am seeking information regarding the Dewey family of Cadiz, Harrison County Ohio. Chauncy Dewey came to Cadiz from Connecticut prior to 1840. He was a state legislator, lawyer and bank president. He was married to Nancy and had Oroville, Charles and Albert, Clara and Mary who may be Martha. He is listed in the 1870 census with an age of 77. He is not listed in the 1880 census nor are the other members of the family. Any further information would be greatly appreciated. One commentary regarding Harrison County mentioned that the son, Oroville, gave an interview to the Cadiz Republican in 1898 detailing the family genealogy.

Thanks,

Karen Harris
