In trying to transcribe handwritten post-Civil War documents I came across a signature that has defeated me. Can anyone find out who was Deputy Clerk of court of Common Pleas for Hancock County in 1885? His first name is William, with the middle initial M, and the surname begins with what appears to be an S. It could possibly be a rather sloppy G, I suppose. Thanks!
