Evelyn, I have a Samuel W. Holmes in Hancock Co in the 1850's. I don't know if he was born there. He married Sarah Ensminger 2/4/1852 in Hancock Co. I know of three of his children who were born in Wyandot Co: Anna B Holmes (my gggrandmother) b in the mid 1850's, Emma S Holmes b 3/22/1855 in Carey, and Frank Holmes b 8/4/1862 in U Sandusky. When my Anna died after cb in the mid 1880's, her parents were listed as Dr./Mrs. S W Holmes of U Sandusky. I also know he was in the newspaper business with his son Frank in the 1880's. If you find a match, please let me know and I will do the same. Thanks, Kathy
